CRUCIBLE SHIRAZ 2014
Crucible is our premium Shiraz, produced only in minuscule quantities when conditions are optimal. This wine that derives its name from the hot and dry circumstances under which the vines ripen the grapes, is deeply concentrated, supported by a firm, yet elegant tannic structure. The conditions under which these wines flourish, is adversity that is literal and figurative crucible. This is our standard-bearer, and a wine of which we are extremely proud.
A very intense deep purple colour. An intense and complex nose of plums, violets, white pepper, cloves, cinnamon and mulberries follow through on the palate. A full-bodied wine with intense spicy flavours, well supported by firm integrated tannins and a lingering aftertaste.
The Cloof Crucible has a special fondness towards lamb and beef. It’s also rather fond of spicier dishes like Asian-spiced pork or Cumin-spiced burgers with Harissa sauce.
A Lynchpin - relates to the cornerstone that holds the various elements of a complicated structure together. In this unfiltered blend, the Lynchpin is an elegant Cabernet Franc supported by a rich Merlot. This wine provides an explosion of blackberries and dark cherries, supported by well-integrated French Oak.
This wine is excellent with beef, lamb, grilled veal, game such as pheasant and poultry such as turkey. It is also a great match with cous cous, tandoori spices, bean dishes and hearty stews.
This wine has a deep ruby red colour, with elegant and concentrated aromas of plums, honey-bush and hints of cigar box on the nose. Rich flavours of prune follows through on the palate, supported by the fruits found on the nose. This wine is well supported with soft integrated tannins that leads to an elegant and smooth finish.
Pinotage goes well with smoked duck and pulled pork. Bobotie, ratatouille and curry also tastes better with a glass of Pinotage.
CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2017
This unfiltered Cabernet Sauvignon, with grapes coming from 19-year-old vineyards, explodes with flavours of blackcurrant, cherries, violets and cigar box aromas. The palate flaunts the flavours found on the nose supported by a well-integrated, ripe tannic structure.
We recommend enjoying this wine with braised beef short ribs, roasted duck breast or Danish Blue Cheese or Camembert.
An intense, complex nose of violets, cloves and cinnamon, enhanced by prominent white pepper and blossom. A full-bodied wine with spicy flavours well supported by silky tannins.
All red meats will work with the Cloof Syrah, but it has a special affinity towards roasted pork loin and barbecued ribeye steak. It also accompanies wild game birds, like roasted pheasant on occasion.
