Much is made of the food that could complement various wines. Fortunes are spent on glassware that accentuates certain aspects of wines’ aroma. There are even ideal serving temperatures for wines.To the mix we can now add a further consideration; whether the wine is being consumed in- or outdoors. We hosted a group of Danish customers to a Gourmet BBQ lunch at Cloof yesterday. The 38-degree ambient temperature was a fantastic contrast to the weather they had left behind on Saturday, but it wasn’t necessarily ideal for a tasting of big reds.

The sales and marketing team of Cofco Ltd (owners of the Great Wall wine brand) spent an afternoon getting to know Cloof wines. Afterwards Oscar was presented with a bottle of Chateau Sun God Shiraz, which the Cloof team looks forward to tasting.

Cloof has not been contactable by telephone for almost a week, which sadly is something that happens on a regular basis. As it stands, no-one at Telkom is willing to commit to a date when it will be fixed.

Elmie Smit’s first solo exhibition will open at Cloof on 23 November (and moves thereafter to 44 High Street, Darling). The exhibition opens at 11.00 am, and will followed by a Gourmet BBQ.
